I really enjoyed examining the results of the staff survey.  It was interesting to see what software staff use most and how they feel their comfort level with technology is.  I think that I was inspired to help people become more comfortable with Google Apps.  I suppose that despite how far we’ve come with purchasing technology, we still have a ways to go – ensuring staff feel comfortable and confident.

Collaborating with two other colleagues made me think back to many different websites that I had collected in Part 1 of this course on a Symbaloo.  One of them was Edugains.  I’m glad I went on the site and was able to look around and see that there are many valuable resources.  I probably would have never taken the time to look at this otherwise.  I really like that it is Ontario based.  You should visit www.edugains.ca!

I found it interesting that so many of us had many of the same points in our analysis of our survey.  In each piece I read from the participants in the course many of the big ideas were reiterated.  It is really great to know we are not alone.  I also enjoyed reflecting on my role with respect to technology in the school and what I want that role to be in the future.  Reading what others do, and having them share ideas with me was helpful.

For me, I wonder if it is enough for me to be knowledgeable in the area of technology.  I fear that teachers are not realizing their own role in this aspect of professional learning and relying too much on others to help, or as a cop out, say that they are simply not supported.  Should the principal also play a leading role here?  In my opinion yes, but in reality, and with time constraints, that is not always the case.  There is never a perfect scenario I suppose.
